Lots Happening

First of all moved to ITPL since last Friday. Back into the same project which I was working earlier in hyderabad. Live in JP Nagar. Tried coming by Bike today to office but not very sure how long i will be able to continue. Read this from jace.

This months BLUG meet was about Open Source Databases. Though i missed the initial talks by Biju, the meet and the food was great. Shiv Senthilvel's talk on A Business Case for switching to an OSS DB system was an icing.

Been planning to learn Perl since long but never made it. Atlast there was a three day training on Perl and managed to attend it. Hope this gives me a head start.

Yesterday had been to Sparks along with Suresh.Guess this is my first outing around the Brigade Road area after coming to Bangalore some time in Feb.:-(. The music was good.

Let me start my drive back home now.

Weekend...

Friday night was fun. Vimal had been to some party and there was a magic (tricks?) show there. After the show was over, the magician had given those tricky tools to the audience. One of them Vimal brought, was a nail puzzle. Objective of the puzzle is to split the two nails separately and join them back. Initially everyone tried and it seemed impossible. But the solution was simple.

Sunday was Dr.Balamuralikrishna's special music concert at Fort High School, Chamrajpet as part of the Ramanavami celebrations of Sree Rama Seva Mandali. It was Excellent. What more can i say?

Umesh's Marriage and "Cat Effect"

It was Umesh's marriage yesterday. Six of us (Jayanna, Nagesh, Ramnath, Satish, Suresh and me) hired a Tata Sumo and started our journey to Siricare, 20 kms from Chitradurga . We were to leave by 0600 hrs but thanks to the some wonderful planning by Jayanna, were delayed by an hour :-(

Jayanna had seen a cat cross the road when he had started and that is considered a bad omen. So he had given strict instructions to our driver not to speed more than 60 km/hr. With pounding hearts, partly due to the "Cat effect" and thanks to some excellent (!) driving by our young driver, we finally managed to reach the marriage hall around 1245 (the marriage muhurtham was at 1110).

Ganna and Saeed had come down from Hyderabad for the marriage. After the customary wishes and lunch, we started off back at around 1445. Initially we had plans of visiting Chandravalli, but dropped. All our thoughts were about reaching home safely. Jayanna dropped out at Chitradurga as he was going for one of his relatives marriage and Nagesh at Tumkur. Atlast when I reached home it was almost 2100hrs. No idea if Ramnath managed his way to his village (don't remember the name) near Mathikarai.

At Coimbatore...

Had a tough time getting a bus ticket to Coimbatore yesterday. Thought will walk down to KPN / Sharma as usual and get a ticket, but did not materialize. Even tried the KSRTC buses and they were full. Finally managed to get a TNSTC bus to Coimbatore. Veerappan came into my mind the moment the conductor told that the bus will go via Mysore / Sathyamangalam. It was a tough journey and when I finally reached home, spent the whole day sleeping. Hmm...
